Course Outline

This course is divided into nine modules and a final assessment. You have two attempts to pass your assessment. The assessment consists of 45 questions, divided equally among the learning objectives. Once you begin your assessment, you have 60 minutes to complete it.

    Select the state where you work and select the language you’d like for your course, then click “Add to Cart.” After you complete your purchase, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to access the training. You will need to reset your password when you log in for the first time. Once you complete the course and pass the assessment, you will receive a food handler certificate.

    What browser should I use for my training?

    Our Learning Management System works best on Google Chrome. They do not support Safari, and some functionality may be limited on Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox.

    How do I take the course on my mobile device?

    After purchasing a training, you will receive a welcome email that contains a link to the learning platform. If you attempt to log in to your training from a mobile device, you will receive a popup from our partner app, Go.Learn, prompting you to download the app. That means you’re in the right place!

    After you download the app, you will be taken to a simple welcome page that asks for your platform address. You will only need to enter this URL the first time you access the app.

    After you input the platform address, you will be taken to Trust20’s sign-in page where you can use your email address and the password you created during checkout to access your course.

    Is Trust20’s Food Handler Certificate Training available online, or do I have to take an in-person class?

    Trust20's Food Handler Certificate Training is an online course that does not require any in-person attendance.

    How do I check on the status of a course or certificate?

    Anyone who has completed the training through Trust20 is emailed their certificates upon completing a training course and passing the final assessment. The certificate will also be available to download through the training portal. If you can’t access your certificate, they can contact Trust20 Support for assistance.

    Are there states that do not accept Trust20’s Food Handler Certificates?

    Trust20's Food Handler Certificate Training does not meet the requirements set forth by the states of Alaska, Florida, Louisiana, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. Please be sure to confirm with your local health department before purchasing–some local authorities have additional requirements. You can learn more on our State Requirements page.

    How do I access my Food Handler Certificate Training?

    After you complete your purchase, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to access the training. You will need to reset your password when you log in for the first time.

    If your employer assigned you a course by email, your course access link will be sent to the email address your admin used to assign the course. You will then need to follow that link to create an account and access your training.

    You can also log in at login.trust20.co.

    Once you complete the nine sections and pass the assessment, you will receive a food handler certificate.

    What will I receive after completing the course and passing the assessment?

    After passing the assessment with a score of at least 70%, you’ll receive a digital food handler certificate, which can be printed and posted in your place of work or carried with you. Individuals who receive a food handler certificate have demonstrated basic knowledge of the food safety topics covered in the course.

    How do I print my certificate?

    Anyone who has completed a training through Trust20 and has a current certificate can download or print an eCertificate from their Trust20 account. Log into your account, select the Certificates tab, and choose "Download Certificate" to print. You can also request a certificate be mailed to you for a $10 fee.

    How do I properly refer to and use my Trust20 Food Handler Certificate?

    You may refer to the certificate as a “Trust20 Food Handler Certificate” or “Trust20 Illinois Food Handler Certificate.” You may say you are a “Trust20 Food Handler Certificate Recipient.”

    You and/or your managers may not say or imply that you are “certified,” “certificated,” “licensed,” “registered,” or “accredited.” Certificates may not be tampered with, and text or logos may not be added to them without express written permission from Trust20.

    Yes, access to your Food Handler Certificate Training expires one year from the date of purchase. Once you begin the course, it must be completed within 60 days. There are no extensions. A course cannot be accessed once it expires, and online courses are not refundable.

    You will receive two emails before course expiration. The first notice will be sent 14 days before the course expires. The final notice will be issued three days before the course expiration. Someone who has assigned the course will receive a notice 30 days before the course expires. The report will outline unassigned and assigned courses that are going to expire.

    The training course exists to provide and assess an understanding of the fundamentals of safe food handling methods.     What are the course requisites to earn a Food Handler Certificate?

    In order to ensure that everyone receives the same instruction prior to completing the assessment, the following requisites were developed:

    • You must complete all the course activities to ensure you have received the intended instruction on each learning objective. Each module activity must be completed before you are allowed to move forward, and they cannot access the assessment until all activities have been completed. Previously completed content can be reviewed at any time until the assessment begins.

    • You must pass the course assessment with a score of 70% or higher. You may take the assessment two times to attempt to achieve this score. If you do not pass, the course must be purchased again and reset from the beginning.

    What do I do if I lose my certificate?

    If you lose or misplace your certificate, simply log into your account to download and print a copy of your certificate.

    How do I know when my Food Handler Certificate is expiring?

    You will receive a notification 30 days prior to the certificate expiration date reminding you to renew your certificate.

    Customers who purchase multiple seats for their team may check the status of their staff’s certificates by logging into their Manager Dashboard on the Learning Management System.

    How much does Trust20’s Food Handler Certificate Training cost?

    Trust20’s certificate training costs $15. No higher fee shall be charged which would violate any state, county, or city regulations. Fees lower than $15 may be offered for group purchases and promotional purposes.

    What information do you collect, and how do you use it?

    We collect your name, email address, phone number, address, and payment information. That information is treated as confidential and not disclosed to parties other than the individuals providing it (you) or the certificate issuer (Trust20).

    How are complaints related to assessments or certificates resolved?

    Before filing a complaint, you should first contact Trust20 Support. During normal business hours, someone will typically respond within a few hours.

    If our customer support team cannot help you find a solution, you will find an option to file a complaint in their follow-up email.

    Once you file a complaint, our team will respond to your concern within seven business days. We will work promptly (within up to 45 calendar days) to resolve any concerns.

    If you wish to withdraw your complaint, please submit another form with your request.

    How do I appeal the certificate decision on my Food Handler Certificate Training?

    You can appeal the certificate decision on your Food Handler Certificate Training by submitting a written request through THIS LINK.

    Trust20 will review your appeal and resolve your request within up to 45 calendar days.

    Employers should submit a support ticket through Trust20's Help Center specifically requesting person verification. This ticket should include your full name and Unique ID (listed on the certificate you received upon passing your assessment.)     Is Trust20 comparable to ServSafe or 360training/Learn2Serve?

    Trust20's products have been accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board and therefore adhere to the same standards as ServSafe and Learn2Serve. Our products are accepted by most states that have requirements around training and certification, but you should always check with your employer and/or local health department prior to making a purchase.
