The Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco does not currently require alcohol server training, but it is recommended.

Many employers may require staff to complete training, especially if they are attempting to qualify as a responsible vendor under Florida’s Responsible Vendor Act. Under the Responsible Vendor Act, qualified vendors who successfully complete the required training and maintain compliance may receive reduced liability insurance premiums.

Section 561.705 of the Florida Statutes notes that to qualify under the Responsible Vendor Act, vendors must provide instruction to their staff that address subjects including the rules and regulations governing alcohol service, the effect of alcohol on a person’s body and behavior, preventing alcohol service to minors, and how alcohol may interact with controlled substances.

Trust20’s Responsible Alcohol Seller-Server Training covers topics required under the Responsible Vendor Act.
