Yes. The California Department of Public Health requires all food handlers in retail food establishments to complete an ANAB-accredited training program every three years.

How do I get a food handler license in California?

You must take an ANAB-accredited course that covers safe food handling practices within retail food establishments. Under Senate Bill No. 476, employers are now required to cover the time it takes to complete the training and examination as compensable “hours worked” and to relieve the employee of other work duties during this time.
