Does Kansas require a certificate of completion for allergen training?
Kansas does not require foodservice workers to obtain a food allergy certificate. However, under the 2022 Kansas Food Code, the person in charge is responsible for ensuring staff are trained in food safety as it pertains to their duties, including awareness of food allergens. This means that even though a certificate of completion isn’t required, everyone in a food establishment should have some basic knowledge of food allergens.
What do staff in Kansas need to know about food allergies?
The person in charge must ensure that their staff can accurately describe the major food allergens, symptoms of an allergic reaction, and strategies for preventing cross contact.
