Complete online anytime, anywhere
Available in English and Spanish

The Food Safety Branch within the Kentucky Department for Public Health (DPH) does not require formal training in allergen awareness. However, certified food protection managers must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the major food allergens to the health inspector and show that staff have been trained on food allergy best practices. A food allergy training course may not be required, but it can help you protect your customers and stay in compliance with state recommendations.

Is food allergy training required in the state of Kentucky?
No, the DPH does not currently require food allergy training for foodservice workers. However, the state will soon adopt the 2022 FDA Food Code’s recommendations into the Kentucky Food Code.
