The Bureau of Sanitation Services’ Retail Food Program within the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) Office of Public Health states that all retail food establishments must have at least one State Food Safety Certificate holder present on-site at all times during operation. Foodservice managers in Louisiana are required to complete a certified food safety course and pass an exam to qualify for the Louisiana Food Safety Manager Certificate. Recertification is required every five years to maintain compliance with state regulations.

Does Louisiana require food managers to complete training?
Yes, the Louisiana Department of Health requires food managers to complete eight (8) hours of training and a proctored exam from an accepted ANAB-CFP accredited provider in order to obtain their certification credentials. Recertification is required every five years.
