Does Illinois require food handler training?
Yes, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) requires anyone who works in direct contact with food to earn a food handler card or certificate. Restaurant staff, specifically, must complete training accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB). If someone already holds their food protection manager certification, they do not need to complete food handler training as well.
