Maryland Food Protection Manager Certification
The Environmental Health Bureau’s Office of Food Protection (OFP) within the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) regulates the state’s foodservice industry. While the MDH does not require managers or persons in charge to earn a Food Protection Manager Certification, the OFP encourages food establishments to maintain thorough knowledge of food safety practices to ensure compliance with the COMAR Code of Maryland and the 2009 Food Code. Additionally, many cities and counties require some form of food safety training and/or certification.
